Once again McARCS participated in the great California Shakeout drill exercise this year on October 18, 2018]]</font]]]]]]>

Shortly after 10:18 AM many local nets activated and recorded participation via a net check in on the usual local net frequency.

Starting at about 10:30 AM a county-wide net was activated on the county-wide linked repeater system with a call for the usual local nets following in general the procedures of the Wednesday evening county-wide net. At this time only the number of participants in each local net was transmitted and recorded.

To save time in the exercise, traffic relating to emergency conditions and damage reports were not transmitted. Exception: If there is a true emergency requiring a public safety response, a Break Break Priority message can be transmitted to the net control station together with a “This is not a drill“ announcement.

There was a separate call for those medical facilities that have indicated an interest in participating in the exercise and at which a licensed operator is present.

There was also a call for school district offices facilities that have indicated an interest in participating in the exercise and at which a licensed operator is present.

There will be a series of Technician classes via teleconferencing starting on Tuesday March 5 for 5 weeks and culminating in a test session on Saturday April 13. Click here for more information and registration License Course
